Praise for Neil Gaiman's The Sandman:"The greatest epic in the history of comic books"—The Los Angeles Times Magazine"One of the few comics that segued from the comics crowd, entering the intellectual and art worlds, winning over a large non-comics-reading audience..."—The Hollywood Reporter"THE SANDMAN is a modern myth, as well as a precis on why the stories we tell matter so much."—Playboy"The landmark comic-book series that actually made Death seem . . . cool."—Entertainment Weekly Neil Gaiman is the New York Times best-selling author of the Newbery Medal-winning The Graveyard Book and Coraline, the basis for the hit movie. His other books include Anansi Boys, Neverwhere, American Gods and Stardust (winner of the American Library Association's Alex Award as one of 2000's top novels for young adults) and the short story collections M Is for Magic and Smoke and Mirrors. He is also the author of The Wolves in the Walls and The Day I Traded My Dad for Two Goldfish, both written for children. Among his many awards are the Eisner, the Hugo, the Nebula, the World Fantasy and the Bram Stoker. Originally from England, he now lives in the United States.

A New York Times Bestseller!

The Sandman is the universally lauded masterwork following Morpheus, Lord of the Dreaming--a vast hallucinatory landscape housing all the dreams of any and everyone who's ever existed. Regardless of cultures or historical eras, all dreamers visit Morpheus' realm--be they gods, demons, muses, mythical creatures, or simply humans who teach Morpheus some surprising lessons.

Upon his escape from an embarrassing captivity at the hands of a mere mortal, Morpheus finds himself at a crossroads, forced to deal with the enormous changes within both himself and his realm. His journey to find his place in a world that's drastically changed takes him through mythical worlds to retrieve his old heirlooms, the back roads of America for a twisted reunion, and even Hell itself--to receive the dubious honor of picking the next Devil. But he'll learn his greatest lessons at the hands of his own family, the Endless, who--like him--are walking embodiments of the most influential aspects of existence.

This massive hardcover tome, over 1000 pages, collects the first 37 issues of Neil Gaiman's groundbreaking series!

Best Possible Sandman Edition I've always been a fan of Gaiman, and of the Sandman series. I was so excited when the Omnibus arrived! It's a beautiful tome, very attractive with a vintage look to it. It's quite heavy, so you can't really read it standing up (unless you're trying to combine your reading and exercise routine). I don't mind that at all - on the contrary, I feel it adds to the intensity of the experience. The tome makes me feel like Destiny of the endless reading from my book of fates.Excellent Edition I'd like to start my review by pointing out I'll be reviewing the edition itself not the story. Sandman is a wonderful work of fiction and widely considered to be one of the greatest graphic novels of all time, if you haven't read it you likely just haven't been able to convince yourself it's worth the $100+ price tag (it is by the way). The point is, you shouldn't be asking yourself whether you should get Sandman, you should be asking yourself should I get this printing or one of the 10 that came before it.Many would consider DC's absolute editions to be the pinnacle of collected editions, for my part I've always found them a bit too cumbersome and more than a bit too pricey. This Sandman Omnibus is much more in line with Marvel Omnibuses (which is to say it's nearly identical), you get a sturdy hardcover filled with approximately 1000 pages of material for roughly the same price tag as a single absolute that holds half the material. The main difference between this and Marvel's omnibuses is that this addition does not come with a dust jacket, but instead the hardcover itself has been turned into a work of art. The binding is stripped in a way that resembles an old textbooks, the cover is stamped with silver and black in just the right amount of flourish, and even the ends of the pages are dipped black (in a manner all too clearly meant to imitate a bible). Presentation wise its the first graphic novel I've purchased since the Dark Tower Omnibus that looks like a genuine work of art without even breaking it open. When you do get around to breaking it open you'll notice the book uses the recolored pages found in the absolute editions (or most recent paperbacks), this might be a drawback for some but having read both editions I found the recoloring to be a plus. The binding, which appears to be a combination of glued and sown, lays flat enough you don't lose chunks of the story even on two page spreads. The one addition I found to be something of an annoyance is the added issue number on the bottom left corner. This doesn't appear on all pages, it's done in a manner similar to adding a page number (just two or three times an issue) but its enough text to be distracting, at the very least they could have just put #1 instead of "The Sandman #1" each time. There's really not much in terms of extras, enough pages in biographies to draw a little of your time but nothing else. That being said this is really, in my mind, the best edition of Sandman released so far. I wouldn't go so far as to turn your absolutes in and make a repurchase since there's really not much new here, but if you're interested in picking Sandman up for the first time or replacing your deteriorating first editions this omnibus offers tremendous value considering the price.**Note as of this review Amazon is not displaying the correct title image for this book. Amazon shows an image of Morpheus on a white background, while the book itself is more of a cherry brown color with text reading Neil Gaiman the Sandman Omnibus Volume I instead of any prominent image.Buy the Absolute Editions Instead As my namesake implies, I like complete sets, but I also like craftsmanship on par as well. I purchased the Omnibus (both 1 & 2) because I read about the binding issues with the Absolute Editions and I felt that maybe they'd worked the bugs out of it for the Omnibus versions, which were shorter. I also thought I'd save some money. While the latter was true, the former was NOT.Whatever issues of glue-bonded spines the Absolute Editions carry, the Omnibus have it worse because the page count is so high and on glossy paper, which is heavier than traditional bond. The spine has a thin black sheet of paper to serve as the patch for the glue, and it pops and peels when the book is opened past the fits 100 pages. You can open the book without doing this, but you have to angle the covers at about 30 degrees to keep the tension off the spine. Glue is simply NOT suitable for a 1000+-page book of this weight and I don't know WHAT they were thinking by using it instead of Smythe sewing. If I'm spending $100 or so for it already, I don't mind the extra money for a sturdier brace. I imagine that the book will be falling apart in the next 20 years as the glue decays.I regret my purchase and wish I would have spent the extra coin on the Absolute Editions. There are extras with those and the page count is lower, so the strain on the glue-bound spine is lesser. If you're going to have the same problem either way, you might as well go with the product with a more manageable means.

Title: Nudge Pdf Improving Decisions About Health, Wealth, and Happiness
Author: Richard H. Thaler
Published Date: 2009

One of The Strategist’ s “13 Best Personal Finance Books, According to Money Experts”“One of the few books . . . that fundamentally changes the way I think about the world.” —Steven D. Levitt, coauthor of Freakonomics“Engaging and insightful . . . The conceptual argument is powerful, and most of the authors’ suggestions are common sense at its best. . . . For that we should all applaud loudly.” —The New York Times Book Review“An essential read . . . The book isn’t only humorous, it’s loaded with good ideas that financial-service executives, policy makers, Wall Street mavens, and all savers can use.” —The Boston Globe   “This book is terrific. It will change the way you think, not only about the world around you and some of its bigger problems, but also about yourself.” —Michael Lewis, author of Moneyball and Liar’s Poker “This gem of a book . . . is a must-read for anyone who wants to see both our minds and our society working better. It will improve your decisions and it will make the world a better place.” —Daniel Kahneman, Nobel Prize–winning author of Thinking, Fast and Slow   “Utterly brilliant . . . Nudge won’t nudge you—it will knock you off your feet.” —Daniel Gilbert, author of Stumbling on Happiness “Nudge is as important a book as any I’ve read in perhaps twenty years. It is a book that people interested in any aspect of public policy should read. It is a book that people interested in politics should read. It is a book that people interested in ideas about human freedom should read. It is a book that people interested in promoting human welfare should read. If you’re not interested in any of these topics, you can read something else.” —Barry Schwartz, The American Prospect   “Engaging, informative, and thoroughly delightful.” —Don Norman, author of The Design of Everyday Things and The Design of Future Things “A wonderful book: more fun than any important book has a right to be—and yet it is truly both.” —Roger Lowenstein, author of When Genius Failed   “Save the planet, save yourself. Do-gooders, policymakers, this one’s for you.” —Newsweek   “Great fun to read . . . Sunstein and Thaler are very persuasive.” —Slate   “Nudge helps us understand our weaknesses, and suggests savvy ways to counter them.” —The New York Observer   “Always stimulating . . . An entertaining book that also deeply informs.” —Barron’s   “Entertaining, engaging, and well written . . . Highly recommended.” —Choice   “This Poor Richard’s Almanack for the 21st century . . . shares both the sagacity and the witty and accessible style of its 18th-century predecessor.” —Law and Politics Book Review   “There are superb insights in Nudge.” —Financial Times Richard H. Thaler was awarded the 2017 Nobel Prize in Economics. He is the Charles R. Walgreen Distinguished Service Professor of Behavioral Science and Economics at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business, where he is the director of the Center for Decision Research. He is also the co-director (with Robert Shiller) of the Behavioral Economics Project at the National Bureau of Economic Research and in 2015 was the president of the American Economic Association. He has been published in several prominent journals and is the author of a number of books, including Misbehaving: The Making of Behavioral Economics.   Cass R. Sunstein is the Robert Walmsley University Professor at Harvard Law School, where he is the founder and director of the Program on Behavioral Economics and Public Policy. He is by far the most cited law professor in the United States. From 2009 to 2012 he served in the Obama administration as Administrator of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. He has testified before congressional committees, appeared on national television and radio shows, been involved in constitution-making and law reform activities in a number of nations, and written many articles and books, including Simpler: The Future of Government, Wiser: Getting Beyond Groupthink to Make Groups Smarter, The World According to Star Wars, and Impeachment: A Citizen's Guide. He is the recipient of the 2018 Holberg Prize, awarded annually to a scholar who has made outstanding contributions to research in the arts, humanities, the social sciences, law, or theology.

From the winner of the 2017 Nobel Prize in Economics, Richard H. Thaler, and Cass R. Sunstein: a revelatory look at how we make decisions—for fans of Malcolm Gladwell’s Blink and Daniel Kahneman’s Thinking Fast and Slow

New York Times bestseller
Named a Best Book of the Year by The Economist and the Financial Times

Every day we make choices—about what to buy or eat, about financial investments or our children’s health and education, even about the causes we champion or the planet itself. Unfortunately, we often choose poorly. Nudge is about how we make these choices and how we can make better ones. Using dozens of eye-opening examples and drawing on decades of behavioral science research, Nobel Prize winner Richard H. Thaler and Harvard Law School professor Cass R. Sunstein show that no choice is ever presented to us in a neutral way, and that we are all susceptible to biases that can lead us to make bad decisions. But by knowing how people think, we can use sensible “choice architecture” to nudge people toward the best decisions for ourselves, our families, and our society, without restricting our freedom of choice.

Humans are Predictably Irrational, Thaler shows how to be effective with this as parent, leader, spouse No wonder Richard Thaler's work won him the Nöbel Prize in Economics! Built on the earlier work founding Behavioral Economics by Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tvarsky which de-throned the "Rational Actor" model of humans in Classical Economics, Kahneman and Tvarsky, joined by Paul Slovic, showed human thinking is hard-wired in evolution, beset by Heuristics and Biases which are provably non-rational. They answer the question often provoked by observations of others clearly acting against their self-interest. There has been 35 years of continuing research in this area, a Nöbel for Kahneman, even showing that Capuchin monkeys are hard-wired native economic thinkers and choosers. We act, as evolution indicates, for action in the short term, primarily in the lower level, fast thinking brain and with heuristics/algorithms sufficient to meet the test of "Probably Approximately Correct", with book of this name by Leslie Valiant. Humans are not randomly irrational, but predictably irrational, which is what makes The Nudge work effectively.Thaler gives us an alternative to formal control systems for humans based on rules, laws, behavioral/operant conditioning, "shoulds, oughts, musts". Humans ignore or rebel against the rules, and deny consequences for short term gains.Thaler's "Nudge" is the alternative, assuming people will act in their self-interest without depending or using rationality or reason. Thaler shows in his reserach and presents in his book how to shape choice using the newly discovered laws of predictable irrationality, or choice shaping.

In the venerable history of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, only one male has ever been expelled—but Murhder’s insanity gave the Brothers no choice. Dr. Sarah Watkins, researcher at a biomedical firm, is struggling with the loss of her fellow scientist fiancé. When the FBI starts asking about his death, she questions what really happened and soon learns the terrible truth: Her firm is conducting inhumane experiments in secret and the man she thought she knew and loved was involved in the torture.

As Murhder and Sarah’s destinies become irrevocably entwined, desire ignites between them. But can they forge a future that spans the divide separating the two species? And as a new foe emerges in the war against the vampires, will Murhder return to his Brothers... or resume his lonely existence forevermore?
