The truth remains true in 1965 and even now in 2018! I loved this book and you will too! Over the years I have read this book over 10 times. I was just as excited today as I was back in 1975 when I first stumbled on this book.In my journey on life's path these teachings have never changed even though I had, it has lifted me up again and again as I reread it at different phases of my life, through good times, tougher times and back on track to better times and I will be forever grateful! No matter what your age or phase of life you are in now, it can always be better because that is what life is all about...growth! So read it with an open mind as you will be blessed again and again as many have before you.May your life become as beautiful, peaceful and Magical as you were meant to be! Thank you.😇The Power of Your Subconscious Mind is Enormous! Many books have been written about the subconscious mind. This classic by Dr. Murphy, remains an all-time favorite. Written in a friendly, informal style, the author gently leads the reader to a greater understanding and appreciation of the power and function of the subconscious mind. As Dr. Murphy wrote, “The secret possessed by the great men of all ages was their ability to contact and release the powers of their subconscious mind.” In this book, he explains how you can too!Several easy-to-learn techniques for self-improvement are described. These brief techniques combine your intention, imagination, and self-suggestion—working in cooperation with the power of your subconscious mind—in ways designed to help improve nearly all areas of your life. Here is an example of one of the techniques you will learn. Dr. Murphy coined this technique, “The Three Magic Steps.” Here’s how you do it.1. At bedtime—before you fall asleep—relax physically and mentally. Allow yourself to enter a peaceful, drowsy, state of mind.2. While in this receptive state of mind, mentally repeat a short, positively-worded phrase that expresses your intention or desire. Slowly repeat this phrase over and over (in a lullaby-like fashion) for a few minutes.3. Just before you drift off to sleep, imagine a friend or loved one looking directly at you. See the smiling face and hear the friendly voice offer you a sincere “Congratulations!” on the success of your intention. And then simply fall asleep. This is not an academic treatise or scholarly review. This is an encouraging reminder of the great power that lies within you that explains how you can partner up with the subconscious mind to help create a better personal and/or professional life.Timothy A. Storlie, PhDAuthor of Transformational Daydreaming: How to Talk with Your Subconscious Mind and Daydream Your Way to a Better LifeThe Best $1 You Will Ever Spend! After reading about Cynthia Stafford's amazing lottery win and how she credited much of her success to Joseph Murphy's work, I decided to give this kindle book a try. The Power of the Subconscious Mind exceeded my expectations in many ways.I've read a lot of LOA books, especially in the past couple of years...some good, some so-so, some just "get rich quick" schemes for the authors, or so it often seems. And when it comes to the older books on this topic, they often seem dated and not relevant for people living in today's world. The Power of the Subconscious Mind is a winner, in all respects. It IS extremely relevant, for anyone, at any stage in life.It is NOT preachy, although it's obvious that the author did have strong religious beliefs, he doesn't "preach" or push a particular creed or religion at any time in this book. His message is for everyone seeking an happy, healthier and more prosperous life. And who isn't?? ;-)The practical advice in this book is easy to follow and powerful. Enjoyable, easy and not a chore!! A nice change from some other books on the topic I've read and gave up on.I make it a point to re-read at least a couple of chapters, every day or two, as a good reminder and pick me up. I've had some excellent results already, following many of the suggestions in this book. No, I haven't won 112 MILLION as Cynthia Stafford did, but I've had a lot of smaller wins so far, and not just when it comes to financial gains. As Murphy so wisely states in this book, money and prosperity ARE very important, but they are not the whole story when it comes to living a successful and happy life.If you are debating about what LOA to buy, you won't be sorry you choose this one!Geraldine Helen Hartman, author and top reviewer

Title: Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, Expanded Edition Pdf What Men Really Think About Love, Relationships, Intimacy, and Commitment
Author: Steve Harvey
Published Date: 2014-06-03
Page: 304

"Harvey's must-have guide to unlocking the male mind, understanding his game, anticipating his moves and countering with unstoppable offense and defense."--Los Angeles Sentinel"Women should listen to Steve Harvey when it comes to what a good man is about. Steve Harvey dispenses a lot of fabulous information about men. It's more than the average man will usually tell you. Steve Harvey will give it up."--Aretha Franklin"A thorough, witty guide to the modern man....those in need of tough (but ticklish) love advice should check it out (especially the hysterical last-chapter Q&A)."--Publishers Weekly"Filled with practical principles, rules and tips, and illustrated with humorous and warm-hearted anecdotes from Harvey's life and friendships, ACT LIKE A LADY, THINK LIKE A MAN gives readers the real deal about the differences between the sexes and how to bridge them for a mutually rewarding partnership."--New York Beacon"Harvey offers surprising insights into the male mentality and gives women strategies for taming that unruly beast."--The Philadelphia Inquirer An International Bestseller—Over 3 Million Copies Sold! With translations in more than thirty languages, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man is the definitive relationship guide for women.Steve Harvey can't count the number of impressive women he's met over the years—the many incredible women who can run a business, have three kids, maintain a household in tiptop shape, and chair a church group all at the same time. So, when it comes to relationships, why can't these same women figure out what makes men commit? According to Steve, it's because they're asking other women for advice when they should be going directly to the source. In this expanded edition, Steve includes an added section of all new advice, with tips on dealing with your partner's exes, spicing up your relationship, ensuring you're ready for that walk down the aisle, and much more.Sometimes funny, often unflinchingly direct, but always truthful, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man is a book you must read if you want to understand how men think when it comes to relationships, intimacy, and love.

The #1 New York Times smash bestseller Revised and expanded with new material.

With over two million copies sold, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man has become a bestseller around the world. In conjunction with its second movie sequel to be released this summer, Steve Harvey has updated his classic with new advice and insights.

Whether it’s why women should enforce a “90-Day Probation Period” before they give their men sexual “benefits”—the way Ford motor company withholds medical and dental benefits until an employee has been on the job for 3 months—or explaining to women why men would rather “fix it” than talk about it, Steve Harvey’s advice is always spot-on and laden with warmth and humor. But behind the laughter is his sincere desire to help women understand men.

Now, Steve shares even more relationship wisdom. Does it feel like your man’s friends are against you? What should you know about being a wife, before you say “I Do”? Steve provides the answers to these questions and more, and offers new insights including:

  • How to put spice into your relationship
  • 8 sure-fire ways to keep your cool when his “ex” shows up
  • A test for you and your partner, to see if you’re actually ready for marriage. . . or need more time
  • A 90-day abstinence calendar, and tips for making it through this important trial period

With liberal use of his own adventures in love and courtship, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man is an honest, compelling, and realistic examination of how men think about love and sex and what women need to know so that they can set realistic expectations of the men in their life.

What Steve Harvey wants, not what men want ... This is Steve Harvey's take on men, not necessarily all men or even close to it. I like Steve Harvey, especially his book on 'Act Like a Success' so I thought I try this one. Hmm. Well. What a mistake. He seems to think he knows what all men want. Well I am a man and I want much different things. I think Steve is trying to be honest but he is giving his take on how he is with women and what he wants. I think his book includes a certain percentage of men, maybe 20-30%, maybe more. Who knows. For instance, in a relationship, true love is very important to me. I don't see this mentioned anywhere in his book, or anything about love for that matter. He's materialistic. He probably speaks for materialistic men. I mean, his current wife was an escort client of his for 20 years. lol. google it. I don't judge him. That's who he is. He says men want: loyalty, support, and the cookie from women. Sorry, I want true love, good/deep conversation, true friendship, emotional maturity, spiritual connection, trust, loyalty, outstanding sex, and someone who is fun to be around. So many other things in the book that is totally off on what men want.He seems to advocate the sugar daddy approach to women though he has a separate section on 'sugar daddy' which doesn't include himself. lol. For instance, he seem to think that if women give him loyalty, support, and the cookie, he will go outside and brave the battle for her and take care of her. Interesting. If that is not sugar daddy, I don't know what is. How about as a man, I want a woman who is RESPONSIBLE and can keep a job, and pay her own bills, instead of me fighting all her battles for her and taking care of her. I see marriage as a partnership. But I guess when you are rich as Steve, it doesn't matter. You can pay for everything. lol. Also I like to cuddle but Steve says men don't like to cuddle. I will drop a woman if she cannot get emotionally intimate with me. That is another requirement of mine but totally missed by Steve Harvey, who seem to imply that men only want sex in the bedroom. lol. I love kissing and foreplay.I do like Steve as a comedian and as a TV personality. He makes me laugh so hard. However he doesn't speak for me nor many of the men I know.If This Is What It Takes To Get or Keep a Man, I'd Rather Be Alone! This book was such a misogynistic piece of trash that I couldn't even finish reading it. The gist of the book is that in order to possibly get and keep a man, a woman has to continuously tell him he's the greatest thing ever, financially he's got nothing on Bill Gates, and have sex with him - with or without benefit of marriage even though Harvey claims to be a Christian - any time he wants. But there are still no guarantees that "your" man is not going to cheat on you because, according to the book, sex is nothing but a physical act for men and there's no emotion connected to it whatsoever. Don't give "the cookie," as Harvey adolescently refers to sex, for more than 90 days and your man WILL cheat on you. If this is what it takes to get or keep a man, I'd rather be alone! Good grief, all that work just to have some egomaniacal sex addict around the house for you to wait on hand and foot - no thanks. After almost 60 years on this planet, I don't hold a very high opinion of most men in general, but Mr. Harvey's opinion of his own sex comes across as even lower than mine. That father and daughter talk you needed. I don't know if I have ever left a review for this. I was not a big Steve Harvey fan. At 24 I had a deep depression relationship wise. All of my encounters with men were all the way wrong. I wanted a relationship, had great male friendships, but couldn't get the relationship I wanted. I was too afraid of setting the standard I wanted. Reading a series of books on self help, this was the most helpful. It was the father and daughter talk I needed. I was able to understand that I needed to set a standard, ask the questions I want upfront, recognize the red flags, and put myself first. I absolutely love this book. I also check in with this book when dating new men just as a refresher. Regardless of what Steve's past maybe, he has truly shown me something's I never knew. thank you Mr. Harvey.P.S. If you are not ready for change, not ready to let go of the stuff weighing you down, and not ready to forgive and move on, this is not the book for you.

The Uninhabitable Earth Pdf

ISBN: 0525576703
Title: The Uninhabitable Earth Pdf Life After Warming
Author: David Wallace-Wells
Published Date: 2019
Page: 320

A NEW YORK TIMES EDITORS’ CHOICE“Potent and evocative. . . . Wallace-Wells has resolved to offer something other than the standard narrative of climate change. . . . He avoids the ‘eerily banal language of climatology’ in favor of lush, rolling prose.” —Jennifer Szalai, The New York Times“The book has potential to be this generation’s Silent Spring.” —The Washington Post"Most of us know the gist, if not the details, of the climate change crisis. And yet it is almost impossible to sustain strong feelings about it. David Wallace-Wells has now provided the details, and with writing that is not only clear and forceful, but often imaginative and even funny, he has found a way to make the information deeply felt." —Jonathan Safran Foer, author of Everything is Illuminated“A brilliant new book. . . . a remorseless, near-unbearable account of what we are doing to our planet." —John Lanchester, The New York Times Book Review"David Wallace-Wells argues that the impacts of climate change will be much graver than most people realize, and he's right. The Uninhabitable Earth is a timely and provocative work." —Elizabeth Kolbert, author of The Sixth Extinction"An excellent book. . . . Not since Bill McKibben’s The End of Nature thirty years ago have we been told what climate change will mean in such vivid terms." —Fred Pearce, The Washington Post"One of the very few books about our climate change emergency that doesn't sugarcoat the horror." —William T. Vollmann, author of No Immediate Danger“Powerfully argued. . . . A masterly analysis of why—with a world of solutions—we choose doom.” —Nature"This gripping, terrifying, furiously readable book is possibly the most wide-ranging account yet written of the ways in which climate change will transform every aspect of our lives, ranging from where we live to what we eat and the stories we tell. Essential reading for our ever-more-unfamiliar and unpredictable world." —Amitav Ghosh, author of Flood of Fire“Urgent and humane. . . . Wallace-Wells is an extremely adept storyteller. . . . A horrifying assessment of what we might expect as a result of climate change if we don’t change course.” —Susan Matthews, Slate“If we don’t want our grandchildren to curse us, we had better read this book.” —Timothy Snyder, author of Black Earth“Lively. . . . Vivid. . . . If you’ve snoozed through or turned away from the climate change news, this book will waken and update you. If you’re steeped in the unfolding climate drama, Wallace-Wells’s voice and perspective will be stimulating.” —David George Haskell, The Guardian“Beautifully written. . . . As climate change encroaches, things will get worse. Much worse. And David Wallace-Wells spares no detail in explaining how.” —Kate Aronoff, Bookforum"Relentless, angry journalism of the highest order. Read it and, for the lack of any more useful response, weep." —Bryan Appleyard, The Sunday Times"A brilliant and unsparing analysis of a nightmare that is no longer a distant future but our chaotic, burning present. Unlike other writers who speak about human agency in the abstract, Wallace-Wells zeros in on the power structures and capitalist elites whose mindless greed is writing an obituary for our grandchildren." —Mike Davis, author of Ecology of Fear"A lucid and thorough description of our unprecedented crisis, and of the mechanisms of denial with which we seek to avoid its fullest recognition.” —William Gibson, author of Neuromancer"David Wallace-Wells has produced a willfully terrifying polemic that reads like a cross between Stephen King and Stephen Hawking. Written with verve and insight and an eerie gusto for its own horrors, it comes just when we need it; it could not be more urgent than it is at this moment. I hope everyone will read it and be afraid." —Andrew Solomon, author of The Noonday Demon David Wallace-Wells is a national fellow at the New America foundation and a columnist and deputy editor at New York magazine. He was previously the deputy editor of The Paris Review. He lives in New York City.

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • “The Uninhabitable Earth hits you like a comet, with an overflow of insanely lyrical prose about our pending Armageddon.”—Andrew Solomon, author of The Noonday Demon

It is worse, much worse, than you think. If your anxiety about global warming is dominated by fears of sea-level rise, you are barely scratching the surface of what terrors are possible. In California, wildfires now rage year-round, destroying thousands of homes. Across the US, “500-year” storms pummel communities month after month, and floods displace tens of millions annually.

This is only a preview of the changes to come. And they are coming fast. Without a revolution in how billions of humans conduct their lives, parts of the Earth could become close to uninhabitable, and other parts horrifically inhospitable, as soon as the end of this century.

In his travelogue of our near future, David Wallace-Wells brings into stark relief the climate troubles that await—food shortages, refugee emergencies, and other crises that will reshape the globe. But the world will be remade by warming in more profound ways as well, transforming our politics, our culture, our relationship to technology, and our sense of history. It will be all-encompassing, shaping and distorting nearly every aspect of human life as it is lived today.

Like An Inconvenient Truth and Silent Spring before it, The Uninhabitable Earth is both a meditation on the devastation we have brought upon ourselves and an impassioned call to action. For just as the world was brought to the brink of catastrophe within the span of a lifetime, the responsibility to avoid it now belongs to a single generation.

Praise for The Uninhabitable Earth

“The Uninhabitable Earth is the most terrifying book I have ever read. Its subject is climate change, and its method is scientific, but its mode is Old Testament. The book is a meticulously documented, white-knuckled tour through the cascading catastrophes that will soon engulf our warming planet.”—Farhad Manjoo, The New York Times

“Riveting. . . . Some readers will find Mr. Wallace-Wells’s outline of possible futures alarmist. He is indeed alarmed. You should be, too.”The Economist

A much-needed wake up call About half of The Uninhabitable Earth is dedicated to presenting the latest research findings on the expected effects of climate change over the 21st century, with chapters on a wide range of topics including wildfires, economic collapse, and climate conflict. It is extremely well-researched—the author consulted many top climate scientists, there are copious citations and the notes section comprises a large portion of the book—yet presented in an accessible style. As in the original New York magazine article of which this is a book-length treatment, the effects of temperature increases of more than 2 degrees are covered in-depth, going up to about 6 degrees. The other half contains the author’s very literate and thought-provoking musings on the impact climate chaos is likely to have on fundamental structures such as capitalism, ethics, and our conception of history. I was impressed by the author’s restraint in not indulging in speculation. His points are well-informed and backed up with solid reasoning. The information contained in this book is extremely important, because it sounds the alarm at a time when immediate action must be taken, because it forces one to question so many fundamental assumptions behind contemporary life in a developed country, because it is founded in rigorous research on a topic that is of overwhelming significance. It raises and grapples with very big and pressing questions that will be seared onto the minds of millions over the coming century and beyond.Half the truth is worse than the whold truth I'm sure this will meet with skepticism because my assessment of a very popular notion never gets quickly accepted. But hear me out.I apparently am one of the few who has noticed something odd about the whole (politically motivated, created by a politician) "climate emergency movement". Sorry but that's the first thing that must be brought forth: few if any climatologists actually predict "climate catastrophe." The use greater caution and don't make that declaration, they say basically, "it might happen." And I see ordinary people unaware that they're mistaken to quote the late Carl Sagan when he described the planet Venus as what could happen due to "greenhouse gases." He's not here to ask but I cannot see anyone that honest and intelligent thinking that Earth could literally end up with an 800º F atmosphere. NOT GONNA HAPPEN (anytime before the year 2 billion "AD").As for "The Uninhabitable Earth" by Mr. Wallace-Wells, that's exactly what the title and text is trying to pull over our adult objective eyes.As follows: First paragraph points: (1)Re: author's first paragraph in Chapter One ("Cascades") Ahem, taking the weakest most suspect and most flawed arguments as the whole argument is NOT a credible or proper tactic. Of course we've all heard the statements by both special interests and simply uneducated people seeking to minimize what is happening with Earth's Climate. That's Red flag #1.Paragraph Two: Wallace-Wells begins by saying the "idea" that asteroids caused all the know extinctions is obviously false or mistaken. The problem is: HE believes that so many people mistakenly believe this, he must speak against it. Well - This has never been true! The discovery of the Chicxulub Crater in the western Gulf of Mexico DID show paleontologists that it was a factor and a major one. But very soon some paleontologist began questioning even that one single cause for the Cretaceous extinction. It COULD NOT have been the single cause without leaving evidence that would have been quite easy to find all around the world. Some of them have said that the continents being connected at the time allowed mass migrations which made spreading disease much easier and there was already climate changes which had already caused declines in several dinosaur species. The asteroids impact was a final blow. Secondly but important, he says, "...in fact all but the the one that killed the dinosaurs involved climate change..." This isn't even a scientific statement! Because he presents it as such is clearly reason for suspicion. The full story is: climate change took place in that Cretaceous Extinction 66-65 million years ago because several things had combined: first the continents were all bunched together making for a hot dry interior of gigantic size. Second, there was a period of massive volcanic activity which pumped lava over an area of 200,000 sq. miles to a depth of 6600 feet! This was a "super volcano" which would make the Yellowstone look weak because it's atmospheric emissions were several times greater (and much greater than that caused by humans today). And the eruptions lasted tens of thousands of years. Today there is no comparable source which would affect both land and sea life to that degree. It's important to note: our greenhouse gas emissions will drop to near zero in about 150 years when we exhaust the supply of fossil fuels! EVERYONE agrees on this!] Climate change played a role too in that extinction event. So did the over specialization of some dinosaur We are not overspecialized, we're the most widely adapted species on Earth. That's Red Flag #2.If you want, you can easily check the fact that during the "Period of the Dinosaurs" (Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods combined) the climate was almost entirely even warmer than the "catastrophe level" currently given by our saviors in the Democratic Party (since this is entirely a political party issue). Not only that, CO2 levels (determined by years of geological evidence) was higher than what is predicted to bring catastrophe on all the people on Earth "in the near future." From fully accepted evidence: we also know that the Earth was covered from pole to pole with plant life - until the climate changed TO COLD. No flooding killed any whole species, either. Only because humans have built in low lying areas will people be affected and have to move to more sensible nearby land. DON'T invest in shoreline property! That's not a "catastrophe," it's just smart financial advice. These FACTS have been in high school text books for years. There is no need to go looking for all those sources which either answered limited questions or which Wallace-Wells didn't even ask.

What more could fans of true-crime thrillers ask?”—USA Today“A master of the detective form. . . . Killers is something rather deep and not easily forgotten.”—Wall St. Journal“David Grann's Killers of the Flower Moon is unsurprisingly extraordinary." —Time“A masterful work of literary journalism crafted with the urgency of a mystery. . . . Contained within Grann's mesmerizing storytelling lies something more than a brisk, satisfying read. Killers of the Flower Moon offers up the Osage killings as emblematic of America's relationship with its indigenous peoples and the 'culture of killing' that has forever marred that tie.” —The Boston Globe“[C]lose to impeccable. It's confident, fluid in its dynamics, light on its feet. . . . The crime story it tells is appalling, and stocked with authentic heroes and villains. It will make you cringe at man's inhumanity to man.”—The New York TimesNew York Times bestseller (April 2018) David Grann is a staff writer at The New Yorker and the best-selling author of The Lost City of Z, which was chosen as one of the best books of the year by The New York Times, The Washington Post, and other publications and has been translated into more than twenty-five languages. He is also the author of The Devil and Sherlock Holmes. His work has garnered several honors for outstanding journalism, including a George Polk Award.

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER   -  NATIONAL BOOK AWARD FINALIST

A New York Times Notable Book

Named a best book of the year by Amazon, Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, San Francisco Chronicle, GQ, Time, Newsday, Entertainment Weekly, Time Magazine, NPR, Vogue, Smithsonian, Cosmopolitan, Seattle Times, Bloomberg, Lit Hub, and Slate

From the #1 New York Times best-selling author of The Lost City of Z, a twisting, haunting true-life murder mystery about one of the most monstrous crimes in American history

In the 1920s, the richest people per capita in the world were members of the Osage Nation in Oklahoma. After oil was discovered beneath their land, the Osage rode in chauffeured automobiles, built mansions, and sent their children to study in Europe.
Then, one by one, the Osage began to be killed off. The family of an Osage woman, Mollie Burkhart, became a prime target. One of her relatives was shot. Another was poisoned. And it was just the beginning, as more and more Osage were dying under mysterious circumstances, and many of those who dared to investigate the killings were themselves murdered.
As the death toll rose, the newly created FBI took up the case, and the young director, J. Edgar Hoover, turned to a former Texas Ranger named Tom White to try to unravel the mystery. White put together an undercover team, including a Native American agent who infiltrated the region, and together with the Osage began to expose one of the most chilling conspiracies in American history.

First rate! This is one of the best true crime historical accounts I've ever read. From start to finish it is compelling reading that didn't let me put the book down. A darkly fascinating subject well rendered.Masterful. A disturbing piece of history wonderfully told. This one I couldn't put down. What an incredible period in Oklahoma history that I never learned about until now. The author captures an era of lawlessness and greed in frontier life and shares a piece of history that almost remained untold. Thank goodness David Grann didn't let this one die. I really enjoyed this book and hope this story is included in future history classes. A cautionary tale demonstrating the level of greed and heartlessness that can sometimes take hold in people's hearts.Yikes. This is one of the most heartbreaking and terrifying books I have ever read. I hope that it becomes a staple of reading lists for American history classes. It is an incredibly well told story of a staggering real world evil in an America only two or three generations removed from our own. You should read it. It won't take long - it is, though it feels crass to say so, a genuine page-turner. And I at least will likely wrestle with it for a long while. Man o man.

Title: Nathan Hale's Hazardous Tales Pdf Big Bad Ironclad!
Author: Nathan Hale
Published Date: 2012-08-01
Page: 128

Gr 3-8-One Dead Spy begins as Nathan Hale is about to be hanged. He was not a very good spy. But in the hands of Nathan Hale, the present-day graphic novelist, he makes an excellent narrator. American history is hilarious in these lively, rigorously researched, visually engaging stories. α(c) Copyright 2013. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. No redistribution permitted. Nathan Hale is the illustrator of the graphic novel Rapunzel’s Revenge, which was an Al Roker Book Club for Kids selection, an ALA Notable Book, and a YALSA Great Graphic Novel for Teens and earned three starred reviews. He is also the illustrator of several picture books. He lives in Provo, Utah, with his wife and their two children.

Each of the books in Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales has elements of the strange but true and is presented in an engaging, funny format, highlighting the larger-than-life characters that pop up in real history. Big Bad Ironclad! covers the history of the amazing ironclad steam warships used in the Civil War.
From the ship’s inventor, who had a history of blowing things up and only 100 days to complete his project, to the mischievous William Cushing, who pranked his way through the whole war, this book is filled with surprisingly true facts and funny, brave characters that modern readers will easily relate to.

Praise for Nathan Hale's Hazardous Tales: Big Bad Ironclad
"Livelier than the typical history textbook but sillier than the many outstanding works on the Civil War available for young readers, this will appeal to both history buffs and graphic-novel enthusiasts."
Kirkus Reviews

"Readers interested in American history will enjoy these graphic novels... Comic panels of varying sizes enhance the real-life events and support the stories’ over-the-top humor... the writing is accessible and entertaining; author Hale’s style gives readers an insider-y, you-are-there-type scoop."

Sparked my son's interest in history We discovered these books when my son was 7. Nathan Hale's books have been a springboard into his interest in history. These are engaging, funny, and informative. I can't thank the author enough for the work he put into crafting these books. We have all of them and my son reads them repeatedly. My son loves this one My 8yo son has read each of the NHHT books multiple times. He keeps one with him wherever he goes. They can have themes that may be shocking for some, but those opened good discussions for our family. For example, _The Underground Abductor_ exposes some atrocities of slavery that I wasn't aware of. Our kid asked questions, and we talked them out.If you have a kid who loves learning and humor and you can handle having discussions about hard stuff occasionally, then I highly recommend these books. We have loaned a couple to friends who don't love reading for pleasure, and they also LOVED these books.and we have both absolutely loved them. I've never had much of an interest ... I bought my son the Hazardous Tales series for his 8th birthday, and we have both absolutely loved them. I've never had much of an interest in war history, and would never in a million years have picked up a traditional book on naval battles of the Civil War (yawn), but this one was so entertaining and informative! I'm glad to know that my son will go into 3rd grade with a broader knowledge of American history than most adults, and I'm happy to finally be learning this stuff myself!
